All Cattle Dogs Rescue is, primarily, an Australian Cattle Dog (aka ACDs, Blue/Red Heeler, Queensland Heeler or Australian Heeler) rescue. However, we try to reach out to all herding breeds and occassionally, random dogs on the side of the road when the need arises. Recently, we have become more involved in facilitating rehoming of cattledogs, but our primary focus is to aid ACDs that have ended up in shelter situations that need a second chance at a happy life. The main goal of All Cattle Dogs Rescue is to pair humans and canines in a match that will last a lifetime. Once a dog ends up in rescue program, our organization's intention is for the rescued dog to have the opportunity to meet a family that will be suitable for their temperment and energy level. It is our goal to make it, ultimately, more appealing to seek out a rescue dog than to purchase a puppy from a breeder. How can we do this, you ask?

All Cattle Dogs Rescue has a list of standards that each of our foster dogs must meet prior to adoption. As a rescue organization and as dog owners ourselves, we feel that each dog must learn certain rules in order to be "domesticated" members of society. It is our responsibility and duty to see to it they know these rules before they go out into society. They are not adopted out until they learn these rules.

1. Walk on a leash without pulling

2. Stand for exam, ie. at the vet

3. Allow nails to be trimmed

4. Basic grooming, ie. baths

5. Proper interaction with other dogs

Now, mind you, they do not have to like it, they must tolerate it. That is their duty. They have certain expectations as our friends and our pets to fulfill. It's a contract, per se. We provide for them a wonderful life of fulfillment, fun, games, stimulation (Remember, the montra a TIRED CATTLEDOG, IS A GOOD CATTLEDOG). Dogs have essential duties to hold up their end of the bargain; they must behave a certain way in certain settings; anything else is inappropriate. Ultimately this leads to their happiness and YOURS!

Adopting a friend

Our mission is to be the mediator in finding that forever home. If you have never owned a dog, then a cattledog is probably not the place to start. Research the breed or type of dog you are looking to make part of your family. Though herding breeds tend to have some similarities, there are definite differences among them. If you are a couch potato, most cattledogs are not going to fit into your lifestyle. However, if you are an active individual who has time to walk your dog(s) for 30 minutes to an hour twice a day, at the minimum, then a cattledog will fit into your life just fine.

How Do I Adopt My New Family Friend?

Adoption Fees

The standard donation for adopting a foster dog through All Cattle Dogs Rescue is $175. This contribuition is designed to help offset the expenses of a foster dog which includes microchip identification (ideally, AVID or HomeAgain, but occassionally 24PetWatch), sterilization (spay or neuter sugery), vaccination against Rabies, Distemper/Parvo and Kennel cough, deworming for intestinal parasites (Panacur and Droncit or Drontal Plus), flea control (usually, Capstar, Advantage or Frontline) and heartworm prevention (Interceptor or Ivermectin).

What Is A Courtesy Posting?

Occassionally, ACDR will host a courtesy posting which in that case the adoption fees, contract, etc. are up to whomever is responsible for the adoptable dog.

Preapproval Required!

Please, note, that this organization is not a public shelter.
